Grand Opening Event

 marine

Our grand opening event was a huge success with our special guest speaker, Smart Money host and environmentalist, Jon Dee. Dee was instrumental in the banning of plastic bags in supermarkets and the introduction of single-use bags in some States. He also co-founded Planet Ark with Pat Cash and National Tree Day with Olivia Newton-John. Jon shared his inspiring vision for a sustainable future with guests at the launch.

Marine Discovery Centre Educator and passionate environmentalist, Kerrie Trees had us all in tears with her powerful and heartfelt speech.

Ms Trees thanked North Star owners Ian and Diana Beadel, saying they could be “extremely proud to take your rightful place in history as being a part of the solution.”

“It is in this room that you have so generously gifted to the future caretakers of our planet, hearts and minds will continue to change and become empowered with newfound knowledge,” Ms Trees said.

“Our work is important. Our vision remains clear. This is our only home. There is no Planet B.”

The launch of the new Marine Discovery Centre coincided with the announcement that North Star had been awarded the highly regarded Eco-Tourism Australia certification, which is Internationally recognised through the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. Eco-Tourism designs and delivers certification programs for tourism products and destinations to assure travelers that certified accommodation providers have a strong commitment to sustainability and quality. North Star achieved its status with more than 50 environmental initiatives and is one of only two-holiday parks in NSW to achieve Eco-Tourism certification.

Book now to be one of the first to see the largest, privately-funded marine education facility in Australia.

We were grateful to be able to share the event with many of the teams and trades who contributed to this amazing space. The build wouldn’t have been possible without their expertise and we can’t wait to share it will you all.
